JUGs Approved Holiday Events in Boston
On Wednesday night Meredith and I attended Ladies Lounge at at General Assembly which featured Eventbrite Boston's Senior Marketing Manager, Sara Steele-Rogers, and Bash Studio founder, Katheryn Yee. The two were brought together to speak on the theme celebration, and reminded us how important it is not only to market our events, but make them memorable.
So, in keeping with the celebration theme, I thought what better thing to talk about on a November Friday than more upcoming holiday events! Taking Sara's advice, I perused Eventbrite (which is also fantastic website to search for events, not just host your own) and within minutes gathered our top picks for the "must-attend" holiday events in the area. Here are our picks, including one for this evening:
Shopping Themed Events:
North End Holiday Stroll
On Friday December 5th, twenty boutiques and shops in the neighborhood are staying open late for a night of holiday shopping and fun. Enjoy tasty drinks, snacks and even better, great discounts! The stroll is a great way to discover the vibrant historical neighborhood and support your local shops. The event goes from 6pm - 11pm and no tickets are required.
Craft Holiday Boston
Come to the Hynes Convention Center on December 5th for the day to shop for unique, one-of-a-kind gifts, meet and support the makers, and learn about fine contemporary craft. Comprised of 175 exhibitors, CraftBoston Holiday is a highly regarded, must-attend event for artists, collectors, and craft enthusiasts. The event goes all day from 10am to 5pm and entry tickets cost $15.
Social & Comedy Events:
Ugly Sweater Party (TONIGHT)
Hurry up and unpack your ugly sweater because your first USP of the year is happening TONIGHT! Join Jillian's Lucky Strike bowling for just $7. There will be a raffle at the event to benefit the Marquette Challange.
Naughty or Nice Bar Crawl
Who doesn't love a bar crawl? On December 13th the Naughty or Nice Bar Crawl will tour Landsdowne Pub, Lorettas, Baseball Tavern, Bleacher Bar, and Game On...but there's one catch, you have to dress up! So think Santa, Elf, Snow Angel...and holiday swag, free apps at first bar, naughty/nice challenges and a prize for best dressed!
In true holiday spirit the event will also be collecting wrapped toys for the South Boston Boys and Girls Club at Landsdowne Pub. Put a label on the top of the box so we know if the toy is meant for a boy or girl.
Tickets are $20.
Cooking and Dining Events:
Comedy Studio Annual Holiday Show
Located at the top of the Hong Kong Restaurant in Harvard Square, the Comedy Studio is putting on it's annual holiday show Sunday, December 21 from 8:00-10:00pm. Food and drink menu are available. And, yes, they will have scorpion bowls...so we know you'll have fun.
Tickets are $10.
Raw Desserts Gift Workshop and Holiday Party
We've been talking a lot about eating healthy recently but who here thinks it isn't possible during the holiday season? I, for one, used to be in agreement with you. But once again, Team J&A are here to set the record straight with their hour long raw dessert workshop. (Psst, I've had some of the brownies before...they are delicious!)
The workshop will include take home recipes, a tasting (of course), and conversation on best tips to enjoy the season (without an extra 10 lbs to show for it). Tickets are $25 and there will be a holiday party following the workshop.
Gingerbread Houses for Grownups
Gingerbread house decorating is seriously one of my favorite holiday activities. Join the Fairmont Copley Plaza and their culinary team to create your own masterpiece while enjoying delicious appetizers and cocktails. The maker of the most festive house will also win a prize.
Tickets for the event are $65 per person, which includes an assembled gingerbread house, all candy decorations and accoutrements, assistance from the culinary team, wine, beer, festive holiday cocktails and canapés. Make it a date night for $100 per couple, which includes one gingerbread house to decorate and share.
